Friends of the Library Council Report: Winter 2022 & Spring 2023

Hello Friends,

The fall season and the holidays were full of surprises and blessings. The Friends of the Library hosted their Annual Author’s Luncheon in October at the Blue Ribbon Circle. We were honored to have David Hazelwood share his talents with us. He shared how he came about to write some of his books. Mr. Hazelwood also unveiled his latest book, which was released that very day to about 300 folks who attended the luncheon. It was a very exciting event! The funds from this event will help the Library with an interchangeable sign to be placed between the road and the building in the future.

We are looking forward to 2023. The book sales in 2022 were successful and enjoyed by many. We will be planning another book sale in March 2023, so watch for more details.

We are proud to support our local library in their endeavors to serve our community. The library is so much more than a home for books and other printed material. This establishment offers many services to our community such as the use of computers for research, resumes, or communication; activities for children, youth, and senior citizens; a place to sit and read or study. The library cannot accomplish these tasks without Friends. When we think of our personal friendships, people who come to mind are those who are there to help us when needed, share similar compassions, and always doing their best to make us a better person. That is the relationship between Friends of the Library and the Shelbyville – Bedford County Public Library. The Friends of the Library support our library in many ways throughout the year. We would love to have you join Friends of the Library in 2023 to continue support in helping our library thrive! If you would like to be a part of the Friends of the Library, please contact one of the members of the Friends for more information.
