Summer Reading 2022: Thank you!

The Shelbyville-Bedford County Public Library was proud to present our Summer Reading Program this year!

SBCP Library registered almost 350 Summer Reading participants and had 2301 children, teens, and adults in attendance to in-person events over the weeks of Summer Reading. The 73 programs included performers, authors, crafts, STEAM activities, and Bookmobile. The Library would like to thank all of the children, teens, parents, grandparents, and anyone else who attended these programs! This year’s Summer Reading Program would not have been a success without your participation.

Have a spooky fun time at our Halloween Bash! (Volunteers Needed)

Join us for our Halloween Bash!

Volunteers needed! Please fill out the contact form below or email youthservices@sbcplibrary.org if you are interested in volunteering for our Halloween Bash!

The Library will be having a Halloween Bash! Starting from 1 to 4 PM Saturday October 29th! Children and their parents are free to stop by our Community Room to play carnival games for treats, along with our fall backdrop set up for parents to use if they would like to take pictures of their children in their Halloween costumes; we will provide the backdrop and seats, but patrons would need to use their own phones or cameras.

Teens ‘N’ Seniors

The Shelbyville-Bedford County Public Library has received the SeniorTrust Digital Literary Grant with which we want to start the “Teens ‘N’ Seniors prgoram. The Grant is designed to help people over the after of 60 with new technology and learning how too use devices to communicate and stay connected.

Friends of the Library Council Report

Hello Friends,

Fall is such an exciting time of year to be involved with the Friends of the Library! The Annual Author’s Luncheon is October 11, 2022, at noon at the Blue Ribbon Circle. We will enjoy a sack lunch as our featured speaker, David Hazelwood, takes you down roads he has traveled in his roles as consultant, farmer, minister, restauranteur, and innkeeper.

Friends of the Library Council Report

Hello Friends,

Hopefully you enjoyed winter in a warm place while reading a book! The Friends of the Library Council would like to thank all who made the Annual Author’s Luncheon successful in October 2021.

We hope those who attended enjoyed the event and we want to thank you for supporting the Shelbyville—Bedford County Public Library through the Friends of the Library. The money raised from the luncheon will continue to support the library as they work toward updating and revitalizing the different areas both inside and outside the library. The Friends of the Library Council is ready to begin a new season! We will begin planning the Annual Author’s Luncheon for October 2022.

What’s New At The Library

2021 has come and gone… it was a good year for the Shelbyville—Bedford County Public Library.

Thankfully, amid several changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the library was able to remain open for the majority of the year. As with most other businesses we did have a few periods that it was necessary to close for a few days at a time, but thankfully those days were kept at a minimum.
